Meet Harriet
Background
Harriet was born in Troon and has always had an interest in Medicine. She comes from a strong medical background with both her father and older sister also being doctors. She is the grandchild of the late Jan de Vries, a renowned naturopath and complementary medicine champion who helped thousands of patients throughout his career. These strong family ties to healthcare, complimentary medicine and holistic care grounded the belief from a young age that health requires a multidimensional approach which includes looking after the mind, body and soul. Her keen interest in facial aesthetics stems from an understanding of how confidence in your physical appearance can enhance mental and physical health through empowerment and inner self belief.
Current Work
Harriet is a practicing GP in the NHS and enjoys working with patients and their families to support their health needs. As well as being a generalist, Harriet also has a keen interest in women’s health and menopause. In addition, she has a specialist interest in Addictions Medicine and works with the North Ayrshire Drug and Alcohol Recovery Service to help patients to recover from substance misuse.
Medical Career
Harriet graduated from Glasgow University Medical School in 2016. From there she worked in Aberdeen and Fort William as a junior doctor mainly in surgical specialities and psychiatry.
In 2018 she moved back to Ayrshire to commence GP training which completed in 2022 and remains at the same practice as a GP partner.
She has always had an interest in skin health and facial aesthetics which led her to train further in this field. By blending practical skills learned as a junior doctor along with expertise from many years working in general practice, she has been inspired to approach aesthetic medicine in a holistic way. In 2025 she was motivated to use this experience and open a private aesthetics clinic in Troon, whilst also balancing NHS commitments.
Life Outside Medicine
Off duty, you’ll find Harriet outside with her husband, two boys and lots of animals. Weekends are spent with her family, dogs, horses and chickens, fueled by home cooking, running and some mindfulness practice to keep the chaos of life in check.
