It is taken as a weekly injection into the upper arm, thigh or stomach. These can be self administered however we understand that many people find this difficult to do. For this reason you can arrange for injections to be given weekly in clinic for an additional fee. Progress is reviewed every four weeks and the dose is adjusted accordingly at four week intervals.

Weight loss injections can be prescribed for patients with a BMI >30 or with a BMI of 27-30 with an associated medical condition (such as high blood pressure)
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or starting a fertility journey you cannot have weight loss injections. They must also be avoided if you have a history of kidney, liver or pancreas issues or if you have a personal or family history of thyroid cancer.

Like all medications, weight loss injections have some potential side effects. This is why it is very important that it is prescribed by a medical professional and you are well informed of the potential risks prior to starting treatment.
The most common side effects are nausea, mild stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation and bloating. Not everybody experiences side effects and those that do commonly find that these are manageable and resolve with time. More serious side effects which are less common involve the gall bladder and pancreas.
